Volunteer in Ghana

We have hosted group and individual volunteers from all over the world  ranging from one week to six months and encourage you to consider volunteering with FEDEP as well. We are equally willing and prepared to accepting volunteers who  love to stay for a year and over. Volunteering with FEDEP is both an invaluable help for us as well as an incredible experience for those volunteering.

VOLUNTEERING   PROJECTS    AVAILABLE    AT     FEDEP

Applying to volunteer at FEDEP does not mean working with  FEDEP organization only. We do have placements for a number of projects. We are in partnership with other sister Non-governmental organizations, institutions, establishments, enterprises and governmental organizations. We make it easier for volunteers to get projects they wants.Volunteers really enjoy our programs because of our flexibility  and low cost. However,we ensure that volunteers get requisite experiences in the areas they choose  through first hand orientation by FEDEP and the projects partners. Individuals or groups  interested to volunteer in the following areas are welcome:

  • Public Health Education on HIV/AIDs, TB , etc
  • Human Rights
  • Women & Children Advocacy
  • Education- Classroom teaching etc ,
  • Clinics/hospitals
  • Micro Credit
  • Environment & Sanitation
  • Reforestation/Tree Planting
  • Constructions
  • Orphanage/Nursery

CULTURAL STUDIES

As part of our program we organise  Fante (local Language) lessons twice a week and it is optional.Accompanied with the Fante lessons are some folktals & Songs and lecturers about the Ghanaian society and culture. Aside are drumming & dancing workshop and an interesting local fabric making  commonly known as batik tie & dye.

ACCOMMODATION  &  FEEDING

At the moment we have only two accommodation options. Homestay family system and Guest house. The cost of the  program depends largely on  the duration but not the type of project selected. It is always the responsibility of FEDEP to provide accommodation being guest house or homestay.

  • Homestay Family :

Homestay Families  provide our volunteers with three(3) square meal a day, bedroom with table, chair, something to hang cloths on, bed, sheet, fan. In some families volunteers have their separate washroom and toilet while other families also share the mentioned facilities with the volunteers. We always advise our volunteers to learn to adjust themselves in case they have to share those facilities with  families. Actually, that to some extent is essence of volunteerism.

  • Guest House:

Guest Houses provide breakfast and dinner whilst arrangement is made with either the project partners  or individuals to provide lunch.
