We are equally willing and prepared to accepting volunteers who\u00a0 love to stay for a year and over.\u00a0Volunteering with FEDEP is both an invaluable help for\u00a0us\u00a0as well as an incredible experience for those volunteering.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VOLUNTEERING\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0PROJECTS\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 AVAILABLE\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0AT\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 FEDEP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applying to volunteer\u00a0at FEDEP does not mean working with\u00a0\u00a0FEDEP\u00a0organization only. We do have placements for a number of projects. We are in partnership with other sister Non-governmental organizations, institutions, establishments, enterprises and governmental organizations. We make it easier for volunteers to\u00a0get projects they wants.Volunteers really enjoy our programs because of our flexibility\u00a0 and low cost. However,we ensure that volunteers get requisite experiences in the areas they choose\u00a0 through first hand orientation by FEDEP and the projects partners.\u00a0Individuals or\u00a0groups\u00a0\u00a0interested to volunteer in the following areas are welcome:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public Health Education on HIV\/AIDs, TB , etc <\/li>\n<li>Human Rights<\/li>\n<li>Women &amp; Children Advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Education-\u00a0Classroom teaching etc\u00a0, <\/li>\n<li>Clinics\/hospitals<\/li>\n<li>Micro Credit<\/li>\n<li>Environment &amp; Sanitation<\/li>\n<li>Reforestation\/Tree Planting<\/li>\n<li>Constructions <\/li>\n<li>Orphanage\/Nursery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CULTURAL STUDIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of our program we organise\u00a0 <strong><em>Fante <\/em><\/strong>(local Language) lessons twice a week and it is optional.Accompanied with the Fante lessons are some <strong><em>folktals &amp; Songs<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0lecturers about the Ghanaian <em><strong>society and culture<\/strong><\/em>. Aside\u00a0are <em><strong>drumming\u00a0&amp; dancing workshop<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0an\u00a0interesting local fabric making\u00a0\u00a0commonly known as <strong><em>batik tie &amp; dye<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ACCOMMODATION \u00a0&amp;\u00a0 FEEDING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the moment we have only two accommodation options. Homestay family system and Guest house.\u00a0The cost of the\u00a0 program depends\u00a0largely on\u00a0 the duration but not the type of project selected. It is always the responsibility of FEDEP to provide accommodation being guest house or homestay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Homestay Family :<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Homestay Families\u00a0 provide our volunteers with three(3) square meal a day, bedroom with table, chair, something to hang cloths on, bed, sheet, fan. In some families volunteers have their separate washroom and toilet while other families also share the mentioned facilities with the volunteers. We always advise our volunteers to learn to adjust themselves in case they have to share those facilities with\u00a0 families. Actually, that to some extent is essence of volunteerism.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Guest House:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Guest Houses provide\u00a0breakfast and dinner whilst arrangement is made with either the project partners\u00a0 or individuals to provide lunch.<\/p>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHERE\u00a0\u00a0 VOLUNTEERS &#8216;\u00a0 FEES\u00a0 GO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The volunteers&#8217; fees\u00a0are disbursed in a \u00a0wide range of areas to benefit the volunteers, projects, and Ghana economy at large. Below are the areas volunteers fees paid go into:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Airport pick up<\/li>\n<li>Airport drop off<\/li>\n<li>Cultural studies<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation <\/li>\n<li>Feeding<\/li>\n<li>Excursion(Kakum National Park &amp; Cape Coast Castle)<\/li>\n<li>Project<\/li>\n<li>Administration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> REQUIREMENTS\/QUALIFICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Willingness to adjust yourself to your new environment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to book and pay for your in and return flights<\/li>\n<li>Ability to raise funds to meet the program cost requirements (see the\u00a0budget below)<\/li>\n<li>Provision of Authentic Medical\u00a0 Report<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer&#8217;s Profile. This will include the following:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Educational background<\/li>\n<li>Working\/Volunteering Experience<\/li>\n<li>Why you want to volunteer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO CAN APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no age limitation. Children between 1yr and 16yrs can even\u00a0participate BUT only with their parents.They fall under family category . Old Age(60yrs-70yrs) who would just\u00a0like to visit and tour Ghana without necessarily doing any voluntary work are encouraged to apply.You will really enjoy the cultural and Fante lessons with lot and lot\u00a0of <em><strong>Folktales, songs and proverbs<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0You will also enjoy the company of many Ghanaian youth.Once in Ghana and especially with FEDEP loneliness is a thing of the past.Below are categories of persons or group that can apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individuals<\/li>\n<li>Student Groups<\/li>\n<li>Families<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><br class=\"spacer_\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong> MODE OF PAYMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Payment for the cost of the program is\u00a0made in Ghana at the office of\u00a0FEDEP before the orientation. Fees are paid in cash ONLY\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0can be paid in Cedis, Dollars, Pounds and Euro. <strong><em>Fees once paid are not refundable.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> AGREEMENT POLICY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are\u00a0\u00a0advised to sign <strong><em>Agreement Policy Form<\/em><\/strong> while in Ghana after the orientation.
